I was fortunate to have a Capuchino Daughter- and of course have bred wonderful offspring from his long line of sons. He was a treasure. We are all fortunate to have been part of his legacy. Thank you Zarella and of course thank you Capuchino. You will be missed. I love you Capuchino indeed you will live forever..... I am sorry to hear about Capuchino's passing. It is never easy to lose a wonderfully beautifully animal. I know Capuchino will be galloping in horse heaven living happily ever after! what can I say about the great horse of all times! I was Capuchino the first time in Asheville, NC, being ridden by David Castro. He gave me goose bumps just watching him. Then I noticed his tail hairs were gone, but he still had a presence and dignity far beyond anything I had ever seen. I was moved to tears by his magnificence, and said a pleading prayer to God that I would one day own one of his offspring. Well, I am blessed to have one of his daughters, and consider her a true treasure. ---Beth Holton Many years ago at the Nationals in Memphis, I asked a groomsman if Capuchino was in a stall that was completely covered with stall curtains. He said "yes" and asked if we'd like to have our pictures taken with him. Of course my daughter, granddaughter and I responded with an excited YES!!! We all still have our prized pictures with Capuchino and remember his beauty and patience as he stood with each of us posing for photos. I'll miss him but am glad I was able to meet him, and touch him, and share in a few moments of his glorious life. Martha Hebrew I had the pleasure of judging Capuchino Grand National Champion in 1987. He will ALWAYS be THE ONE! The Paso Fino world changed around him. I have a grandson of Capuchino,Conato de Casta. It was a very sad time for us as Conato's,. mother La Antioquena de Casta whose father was Capuchino, died six days after Capuchino. We are still in mourning at our barn. Black ribbon adorn Conato de Costa's stall.Conato has many attributes of his Grandfather. I love Conato more than words could ever express. The first time I saw him I was in Mundial in Tampa.Late 90's Since that moment until this moment I have not ever seen such beauty and perfection in any other horse as Capuchino. Linda Holzer, Idaho Capuchino was a great influence to the horse world. His death marked the end of a long and notable career that many will remember. He just produced his first offspring this year & she is very cute & correct. His blood will live on in the countless offspring he has produced. Diane from Colorado Zarela, So sorry to hear of the loss of your Capuchino. every day when I feed my Capuchino stallion who will be 11 next month I think of Capuchino and you his beautiful owner. You have been blessed to have owned such an indelible mark on the history of our great breed. After you told me of your loss I got out his book that you sold me in 2004 and on the very first two pages is this beautiful head of Capuchino. So noble and intelligant. Then on page 41 is a picture of you with your arms wrapped around his neck. That picture now takes on a whole new meaning to me. I know this is a very sad time for you, and I am sorry, I wish I could do something to make your pain go away, but on the bright side you have been a part of the most important part of the history of our breed. My mare, La Contrachina is his daughter. She produced a magnificent colt for us last year, and is now due to foal again any day. I also have a lovely filly who is a Capitan granddaughter, and a colt sired by Cafeto del Juncal. They are all the most excellent representations of the Paso Fino breed you will ever see. We will always cherish the memory and legacy of the beloved Capuchino. To note, our ranch is on the Big Island of Hawaii- he has crossed the Pacific! My name is Stacy Ortega,wife of the late Julio Ortega, and i just want to say that i was devastated when i heard the news of Capuchino being dead. When i first met my husband and he brought me to the nationals in 1997,Julio introduced me to all of the beautiful stallions there from Capitan,Hussein,Classico,and of course Capuchino. Of all the stallions i kept going back to see Capuchino,and then Julio talked to the man in charge and we got to take Capuchino out and take some pictures,from then on i knew the only paso fino i would have would be out of this great horse. When Capuchino died in Jan.,i then lost my husband in Feb.,the paso fino i've loved always,and the paso fino trainer who gave me the opportunity to see quality of the paso fino horse. It's hard for me to go to shows and not feel my husband there,so i take it one day at a time. Capuchino will always be in my heart and i hope one day i do find a horse like him or close to it. Zarela,im so sorry for your loss and you will always be in my prayers.
